Split Idler

E-mail Print PDF

Split Idlers are manufactured using one of two methods. The first method uses a bearing that is directly pressed into the centerhole of the split pulley. The bearing is held in place by steel retainer caps that are spotwelded to both sides of the pulley. The second method uses a powder metal hub manufactured with a cavity to accept a bearing. The hub is welded into the pulley, the bearing is then inserted into the bearing cavity via a pressed fit completing the idler. Once either assembly is complete a bushing may be inserted into the inner-race of the bearing to accommodate various shaft sizes. Split Idlers can be manufactured in an array of sizes to meet customer requirements.
